AHSL Statement of Faith

1. We believe that Jesus Christ is the uniquely divine and only begotten Son of God, conceived without a human father. (John 1:14; Colossians 1:15-17)

2. We believe the Holy Scriptures are the inspired Word of God, infallibly recorded by men who were supernaturally guided by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the originals in all the facts they attest and in all communications concerning salvation. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105)

3. We believe that every miracle recorded in the Bible happened truly and literally by the power of Almighty God. (See the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.)

4. We believe God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them as His Word tells us. We reject the theory of evolution.  (Genesis 1 & 2 and Exodus 20:11)

5. We believe there is salvation only in the blood of Jesus Christ, shed by grace upon the cross of Calvary, and applied to the heart of the sinner by his own faith and obedience to the terms of the Gospel. (Hebrews 9:14; Hebrews 10:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10)

6. We believe there is but one Holy Bible (the Christian Scriptures comprised of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments), one Faith, which is Faith in Christ, and one Church (Christ’s Church, which He purchased with His blood), and one God who is over all. (Ephesians 4:4-6)

7. We believe that the morality taught in the New Testament should be maintained within the biblical family, led by the parents. We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; I Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23)

8. We believe that mankind, consisting of two genders (male and female), is created in the image of God. Each of these two distinct, complementary genders reflects the image of God. (Genesis 1:26-27, 5:2, 9:6; Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6; I Corinthians 11:7; James 3:9-10)

9. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between one natural born man and one natural born woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, or abuse is a sinful perversion of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance. 10. We believe that all human life is sacred and begins at conception. Since each person is created in the image of God, all lives must be respected and protected. We believe the intentional taking of human life in any manner is a crime against God. (Genesis 9:6; Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17; I Corinthians 15:49; James 2:11)

11. We believe that Christians should live in peace with one another, without disputes, strife, the taking of revenge, or the threat or use of violence as a means of resolving personal conflict. We believe we must forgive each other and speak God’s truth in love – graciously, gently, patiently, and humbly. We believe we should follow Scriptural principles to settle disputes rather than appealing to civil courts to settle differences. (Hebrews 12:14-16; Colossians 3:12-14)
